Our lounge is a much-loved part of Oakhill, enjoyed by overnight guests and visitors stopping by for a drink, a meeting or a relaxing break. We’re expanding this welcoming space to give you even more room to sit back and enjoy your time with us.
What to expect during the works
The current lounge will remain open throughout the refurbishment, so you can continue to enjoy the space during your visit. Please note that access to the garden directly from the lounge will be unavailable while the work is underway.
As a Grade II listed building, there are special considerations and restrictions when making changes to our property. We’re excited to undertake this project and enhance the lounge while respecting the character of our historic building.

Oakhill Cromford
Oakhill Cromford, Where Elegant Heritage Meets Modern Luxury
Oakhill Cromford is a beautiful Grade II listed, Georgian-style hotel set within landscaped gardens in the historic village of Cromford, Derbyshire. Originally built by the Arkwright family in the mid-19th century as a private family dwelling, the property was sympathetically restored and refurbished in 2021.
Situated close to Matlock and Matlock Bath, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, Oakhill enjoys a wonderful setting within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage Site. The centre of Cromford is just a short walk away, while Cromford railway station is approximately ten minutes away on foot.
Oakhill Cromford has four beautifully furnished suites, all with the most wonderful open views. Each is finished to an impeccable standard, with original features and thoughtful heritage touches throughout. There are ten further bedrooms offering comfortable and spacious accommodation with en-suite facilities.
You can enjoy a fine dining experience at Oakhill, available for residents and non-residents alike. The restaurant serves creative cuisine made from fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced locally wherever possible. Relax over a leisurely lunch or dinner in the beautifully restored dining room, or take afternoon tea in our picturesque grounds.
Our stylish bar is the heart of the hotel. All are welcome; you don’t have to be staying to enjoy a drink with us. We offer a wide range of beers, wines and spirits, including many from local producers.
